Introduction: Chicken Bow Tie

About: I am a person who just enjoys sitting down in their free time, listening to a podcast or some music, and making a variety of things.

This project is a quick one guarantied to make your chicken the classiest in town. The Chicken Bow Tie is a bow tie made out of paper that can easily adjust to your feathered friend when you put it on him/her. Don't worry if they don't love it, some chickens are more of a bow in the hair or neck tie kind of fellow. Enjoy making this project and watching a chicken wear a bow tie.

Step 1: Supplies

Supplies:

  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • 2 Pieces of Paper
  • Chicken

Step 2: Cut Paper

For this project you only need 3 strips of paper. One will be 9 in. by 2 in. This will be called the "bow". The next one is "strip A" and is 3 in. by 1/4 in. The final strip of paper is "strip B" and is about 13 in. by 3/4 in.

Measure and cut each of these strips and set all but the "bow" aside.

Step 3: Fold the Bow

Take the paper you just cut for the "bow" and fold each side until they touch in the middle. Place a small piece of tape where they come together. Then fold it back and forth as shown above in the second image

Step 4: Puff It Up

To give the bow tie a fuller look pinch the center and stick your finger in one end. Then move it around until the creases have "loosened" a little. Repeat this "fluffing" on the other side.

Step 5: Add Strip A

Tear off a small piece of tape and place in on the end of strip A. Wrap the piece of paper around the center of the "bow" and use the tape to secure it.

Tip:

Cut some of the edge off the tape to make it fit a little better.

Step 6: Add Strip B

Add "strip B" onto the bow by taping each end to the back of the bow. This is what will go around the chicken's neck.

Step 7: Put the Bow Tie on the Chicken

To put the bow tie on your lucky chicken you have to snip part of "strip B". Then, while the chicken is being held, wrap it around its neck and tape the ends back together. This lets you fit the bow tie to the chicken without having to measure the neck size.

Step 8: Done!

Congratulations, your chicken (hen or rooster) is ready to party it up at the next black and white party it goes to!

A quick disclaimer, my chicken did not actually like the bow tie so yours may not either. She was not hurt in the making of this Instructable and we took it off soon after putting it on. It is great for the picture, though!
