Intro: Chicken Yakisoba
Yakisoba means "fried noodles in sauce" or as most people call it stir fry. This dish is considered Japanese even though it came from china. Yakisoba noodles are very similar to ramen. This dish is very good and you will love it! Its is very easy and not that expensive. Its is also very easy to make.
Step 1: Ingredients & Tools
~ 16 ounces of fresh soba noodles
~ 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
~ 2 carrots peeled and cut into matchstick size pieces
~ 1 small onion peeled and thinly sliced
~ 1 red bell pepper core removed and cut into matchstick size pieces
~ 2 cups of shredded green cabbage
~ 8 ounces of boneless chicken breast cut into 1-1/2 but 1/2 in slices
~ Kosher salt and pepper (may not be needed it sauce is salty)
~ 1/2 cup of water
~ 3/4 cup of tonkatsu sauce (couldn't find any so I use soy sauce)
~ *OPTIONAL* Pickled ginger for serving (didn't use because its not my favorite taste)
~ 2 bowls
~ Frying pan
Step 2: Soak the Noodles
Okay so this st is the easiest and quickest. All you do is fill a bowl with water and put the needles in. That is it! Keep them in the until the start getting soft. You want to take the out then because later you will steam them with the chicken.
Step 3: Cut Up and Cook Your Veggies!
Okay here is when you cut them up in the match stick sizes. If you make the too big they will be pretty hard to eat because nobody wants to eat this massive chunk of bell pepper. I know, I know I made my peppers to big! I was jest experimenting.
First you want to put 1 tablespoon of oil in your frying pan and heat that up to the right temperature. Now you want to add the carrots, onion, and bell pepper. Not the cabbage because that cooks quicker. After the onions start to get this kind of glowing affect and the peppers are getting kind of orange your ready for the cabbage. Put in the 2 cups of cabbage and stir it around for about 2-3 minutes. Now, you put the cooked veggies in a bowl to put aside.
Step 4: Cook the Chicken and Mix It All Togather
Now, you take another tablespoon of oil and put it in the same pan and cook the chicken. After it is cooked get a lid for the pan, put the soba noodles in and pour the 1/2 a cup of water in and put the lid on. Turn on medium head and cook for two minutes. The water steams the chicken and the chicken. After that's done you add the vegetables in and cook them together for a while after that.
Step 5: Add the Sauce and You Are Done!
Now you just add the tonkatsu sauce or the soy sauce if you cant find any. Use tongs to toss the noodles around to get them fully coated.
Now you are done! Its time to enjoy this amazing stir fry. Now its time to add you pickled ginger (if you like it).
