Introduction: Chinese Honey Toad in the Hole Cupcakes



these possibly don't have very much in common with traditional Chinese food, but they taste amazing, honey goes so naturally with pork, and the two combine effortlessly with soy sauce and sesame seed oil, to give it a sweet, complicated and oriental style flavour, that would work perfectly on there own, but turning them in to cupcake toad in the holes turns them in to the perfect picnic snack. 

garnish with sesame seeds, torn parsley and salt/pepper  

Step 1: Sausage Marinade

Ingredients:
20 cocktail sausages
1 tsp dried herbs
2 tbsp honey
4 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp sesame seeds
4 tsp sesame oil
2 cloves of garlic (optional)

Add sesame seed oil to a pan Picture 2.

Add sesame seeds Picture 3.

Add soy sauce Picture 4.

Next add the honey Picture 5

You need to wait for the honey to melt down before adding the sausages Picture 6.






Step 2: Toad in the Hole Mixture

Batter:
75g flour
80ml milk
2 eggs

Ingredients Picture 1.

Add flour and eggs to a bowl Picture 2.

Add milk and whisk Picture 3.

Step 3: Baking

You know that the sauce is ready once it has started to thicken like in the first picture. 

IMPORTANT Add the toad in the hole batter first, instead of the sausage, the sauce is sticky and i needs to be covered in batter otherwise it will be more difficult to eat in public and with grace 

220C/425F/Gas Mark 7
Bake 10mins

the sausages are now ready Picture 1.

Pour the batter in first Picture 3.

then place the sauce and sausage in the the batter Picture 3.
