These are definitely a favorite in our family! All of us are big fans of chocolate and peanut butter (who isn't?!) and it doesn't take very long for these to disappear. Usually, I like to give these to my siblings for their birthdays. Except now, it's almost become a tradition and they expect it! :)
These Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups are kind of like a larger version of a Reese's Piece. A bit different, because it's got a cookie inside, but quite similar. Interested yet?!?
Let's get started!
Step 1: What You Need
First off, let's start with the ingredients! You are going to need:
- 1/2 chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon peanut butter
- chocolate peanut butter cookie
- 1 tablespoon cream
For your utensils, you'll need:
- a silicone muffin cup (like these)
- a pan to melt chocolate in
- a tablespoon
Step 2: Making Your Chocolate Cup
Melt your chocolate over low heat with a tablespoon of cream. Once it's melted, spoon a little bit of it into the muffin cup, pressing it against the sides and bottom of the cup. Make sure there are no gaps in the chocolate and that all of the muffin cup has been covered in chocolate.
Also, make sure you didn't use all the chocolate that you melted! You'll need a little less than half of it at the end.
Step 3: Add the Peanut Butter and Cookie
Add a tablespoon of peanut butter at the bottom of the cup, spreading it out so that it covers all of the bottom. Place the cookie on top of the peanut butter. Then spread a small layer of peanut butter over the cookie.
Step 4: Seal It With Chocolate
Using the rest of the melted chocolate, spread a layer of chocolate over the peanut butter, sealing it against the side of the cup so that none of the peanut butter inside doesn't drip out.
Then, put the chocolate cup in the freezer for at least half an hour or until it's solid.
Step 5: Enjoy!
Once it's solid, peel the silicone muffin cup away from the outside of the chocolate cup. Now it's ready to serve, or if you want to save it, keep it in a covered container in the fridge.
