Step 1: What You Will Need:
Pair of size 10mm (US 15) knitting needles (they are very large!)
At least 420 yards of size 6 super bulky yarn in any color (I chose a rainbow color)
1 yarn needle
Step 2: Begin Your Blankie!
Start by casting on 73 stitches! It doesn't sound like much but the yarn is very bulky and this will help you work quickly!
Your gauge should be about 8 stitches equaling 4" approximately. Keep in mind that you may need bulkier yarn or bigger needles to reach this gauge, though it is hard to find bigger needles than US 15!
Step 3: Main Body of the Blanket
Rows 1-4: just knit all the way across.
Row 5: knit 3 stitches, then yarn over (bring the yarn over as if you were going to purl, but don't actually purl) then knit 2 stitches together (bring your needle through the next two stitches at the same time and knit as if you had one stitch on your point) repeat this pattern of knit 3, yarn over, knit 2 together until the last two stitches, then just knit those last two stitches! (Photos show yarn over and knit 2 together as well as the holes made by this technique!)
Repeat rows 1-5 until blanket measures 36" from the bottom, ending with row 5.
Knit the 4 final rows. (This will give your blanket a border matching on both ends, it will also make the finished project about 36.5" to 37" square)
Weave the ends of your yarn into the blanket.
