Introduction: Climate Change Man!

Step 1: Questions

E10 - CAT 1 - I will create my own multi-modal persuasive text using my letter to the editor for a specific audience.
Listen to the instructions for E10 step 1 here:

Step 1
Your audience for this text is primary school students. This means that you need to create a text that these children will understand and that will persuade them.

1. Watch the following video about using supporting evidence in your writing: https://learnzillion.com/lessons/391-develop- supporting-evidence-for-a-persuasive-letter
Sometimes, to gather supporting evidence you will need to research your argument. This means finding facts, quotes from knowledgeable sources or examples to use in your writing.

2. Identify your key arguments in your letter to the editor (from tutorials) and list your supporting evidence for each key argument (use a table like the one below on the next page).

3. Identify if these are examples of ‘good’ supporting evidence for your audience. If not, do some research to discover stronger supporting evidence that is relevant to your audience. If you have a younger brother or sister, ask them if they find your arguments convincing. Try to find at least one fact and one example to support your argument.

4. Re-draft your letter to the editor as a persuasive essay (remove the letter formatting) using these supporting arguments.

5. Have a friend, parent or teacher proof-read your work for spelling, grammar and understanding.

6. Write a final draft of your persuasive essay.

Step 2
Listen to E10 step two instructions here:
You will now need to transform your into a multimodal text.
1. Record the audio file for your text. This will involve reading your text aloud. Make sure that your words are clear and that you have used the correct tone in your voice. Remember your audience.
2. For each paragraph find two images (these could be drawings, key words, or pictures) to match your argument in the paragraph. Each of these need to be relevant to your argument and your audience.
3. Put the images and the audio file together using imovie.
4. Download a copy of the rubric here and ask a parent or peer to watch your movie and give you feedback using this rubric - post this with your task.
5. Write an explanation about how you catered for your audience in this task. You might talk about why you chose particular arguments, supporting evidence, images or persuasive devices and the impression they would leave on your audience.
Make sure you post evidence of all steps to StudyTurf (this might include photos of drafts and corrections in your english book).

How do I know that I am successful?
I have created a multimodal persuasive text that would convince an audience of primary school students.
I have used TEEL effectively.
I have used visual language effectively.
I have used a number of persuasive devices.
I have explained how my text was created for a particular
audience.

Step 2:

Natural crisis heading our way!!?⛅️?
Nature is fighting back!

We've all know and have herd about climate change (global warming) it affects all of us, animals, the planet and changing the times when curtain fruits and trees bloom.
Earth has been changing throughout its hole history from when the bang happened to our planet starting to create new life. Some of the changes are completely random because we are still trying to understand our planet and its history.
Scientists know that our planet has natural gasses around and when the solar flares come from the sun hit them it creates energy heating up the world. These solar flares have increased over the past few century natural for its own cycle.
From the increase of these flares the earth can't surport the heat being generated.
Increasing the temperature increasers sea levels creating more erosion destroying our costal habits coursing species to move.
Speaking of sea levels rising the water also heats up messing with the coral reefs and with plankton which than messes with whales and other plankton eaters.

Step 3:

Letter to the editor
Climate change is real man!
By Breanna Sweeney

We've all know and have herd about climate change (global warming) it affects all of us, animals, the planet and changing the times when curtain fruits and trees bloom.
Earth has been changing throughout its hole history from when the bang happened to our planet starting to create new life.
Climate change was established in the early 19th century when ice ages and other natural changes in paleoclimate were first suspected and the natural greenhouse effect first identified.

Some of the changes are completely random because we are still trying to understand our planet and its history.

In the late 19th century, scientists first argued that human emissions of greenhouse gases could change the climate.

Since 2001, the number of extreme heat records in Australia has outnumbered extreme cool records.

Speaking of sea levels rising the water also heats up messing with the coral reefs and with plankton which than messes with whales and other plankton eaters.
Sea sea levels have increased by 30% (20-30cm) since 1980.

The government of Australia is supporting the statement that sea levels are rising faster than ever before as a result of increased carbon dioxide emissions.

The change of our climate could result in the end to our planet and its wellbeing we need to change our way of life before the planet decides it self!
