Introduction: How to Make a Vacation Trip Album in an Hour / Como Armar Un Album De Viajes En Una Hora

There are a thousand different ways to document memories. There’s no right or wrong way to do it, the best way is the one that works for you and that you like. Nevertheless, if you want to make an album in as little time as possible and you’re not home with all your tools and supplies, then this post if perfect for you. Our blogger shows you how she put together her vacation trip album with little effort and in the fastest way possible.

A few months ago I had the chance to travel to New York with a friend and when I came back to the country my cellphone was filled with photos and memories. I wrote a post about my process a while back (you can read it in this link) and also about how I documented my trip on the go (in this link). Some photos weren’t documented, so I decided to make a mini album detached from my principal project life so I could share it with my friends.

Step 2: Para Imprimir Las Fotos / Print the Photos

-- English --
Since the idea came to me while I was waiting for my next class, I took advantage of the spare time I had and started sorting the pictures I wanted to use. I created an album in the Camera Roll and moved the pictures I selected to that album. Using Afterlight I edited those that needed some retouching (taking into account that once printed they looked more saturated) and then I went to the printing section and uploaded my pictures via the uploader.

Being completely honest, I had no idea of which sizes I wanted to use so, as an adventure, in the comments section I wrote a message for them to randomly print some of them sized 4x6, the squared ones sized 4x4 and the rest of the group sized 3x4.

Step 3: Colócalas En El Album / Put Them in the Album

-- English --
After I received my printed photos I simply started putting them in the album by gluing each pair counterface to counterface, in order to have two sided pages, and punching holes with the hole puncher in order to insert them in the album.

Putting together an album like this is really easy and doesn’t take a lot of your time. besides, it’s pretty fun to sort through because you never know what the next page is going to look like. I love seeing different sized layers of photographs coming at me one after the other, so I alternated between the vertical and the horizontal elements.

Step 4: Use Your Creativity / Usa Tu Creatividad

-- English --

I decorated with wood veneers and wrote on the cards dates and places (thank you MobilyTrip), also I went a little outside of the grid and placed the pictures as it pleased me in the moment. It was pretty liberating not thinking about the design of the whole album and just let things flow!

Step 5: Add Comments / Agrega Comentarios

-- English --

I tried to be creative with the add-on sizes, so I used cardboard scraps to make some kind of layout with the pictures and therefore changing the different sizes of the album pages. I used some cards as filling and the journaling cards to write comments in lettering with the sharpie.

Step 6: Do Not Forget the Washi Tape! / No Olvides Los Washi Tape!

-- English --

I added some journaling pieces and notes over the Washi Tape that I had placed directly over the photographs. Be sure to use a permanent marker so the ink doesn’t spread out once you turn the page over. I wrote some cards using a carbon pencil so I could be sure of the space I had and the I used a pen and overwrote it, taking into account that over time pencil writing tends to erase itself.

Step 7: Your Vacation Trip Album Is Done / Tu Album De Viajes Está Listo

-- English --

With the Perfect Layer ruler I gave some of the pictures a different touch (like this one in the screenshot) so they could stand out. With this ruler you don’t have to make measurements or markings or anything. Just by placing the ruler on the border of the photograph and cutting with the scalpel you have a beautiful frame.
In less than a couple of hours I had my album set and ready to show. The best part is that if you have an Instant Polaroid Camera or a portable printer then you can document your trip on the go. Also, just because of the few elements that are needed it makes it the perfect project to do wherever you are and have your albums up to date. Happy creating!

Peace,

Adrie

¡Feliz crear!

Paz,

Adrie
