Concrete Lamp Shade Light

About: We're homeowners sharing our DIY adventures as we learn to maintain, improve, decorate, and use tech in our homes.

I (Steph) had the idea to make a concrete light complete with concrete lamp shade (which we hadn't seen done before) so we decided to give it a try!

Step 1: Watch the Video

Step 2: Materials

  • Life Water Bottle (Amazon)
  • 1" PVC Pipe and Cap (Home Depot)
  • 6" Flower Pot (Target)
  • 8" Flower Pot (Target)
  • Quikrete Countertop Concrete Mix (Home Depot)
  • Silicone (Home Depot)
  • LED Lights (Amazon)
  • Aluminum tape (Amazon)
  • 1 3/4" Hole Saw (Home Depot)
  • Random Orbital Sander (Home Depot)

Step 3: Fill Bottle With Concrete and Place Pvc Pipe in Middle

Step 4: Fill Pot With Concrete and Vibrate Mold

Step 5: Remove Molds After 24 Hours

Step 6: Place LED Light in Shade

Step 7: Done!

The PVC cap cast inside the shade attaches to the PVC pipe inside the base for a nice tight fit! We were really happy with how this turned out that we decided to make another version, this time incorporating el wire!
