In this instructable, I will show you how to cook an egg using a Mason Jar Lid Ring or Band. This cool little mason jar food hack is great for getting a nice round egg that will fit nicely on a breakfast sandwich. It is really easy to do, if I can do it, you can do it. Let's get hacking!

If you have any questions or comments put them down below and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Follow the easy steps below or watch the short video tutorial, or do both!

Step 1: Needed Items

Needed Items:

Step 2: Heat Pan and Prep Ring

First let's turn out stovetop burner onto medium heat, then give a spray with some kitchen spray, or use some oil, or butter. Next take your mason jar lid ring (band), and spray the inside of it with kitchen spray. You can place it down either way. The first way, the egg tends to come out a little easier, but you need to hold it down with the egg in it for a few seconds. The other way you don't need to hold it at all, but the egg sometimes sticks a little bit while coming out.

Step 3: Cook That Egg

Now crack an egg and drop it in the ring. Simple as that. Then you can also cover it with a lid if you like. Although that step is not necessary.

Step 4: Season and Flip

Next we season the egg with salt and pepper (optional). Then using your tongs and a rubber spatula, flip it over for a nice over easy egg. Then after about 20 seconds use your tongs and lift off the ring. It may stick a little bit, so you might want to push around the edges of it to help it release, before lifting it up. Then you have a nice round egg left! It is ready to eat.

Step 5: Breakfast Sandwich Goodness

This time I am making a nice cheese, bacon, and egg breakfast sandwich. I used a homemade english muffin, then toasted and buttered it. Mmm yummy! Try out the kitchen hack and let me know how you like it! Enjoy!

What kind of material are those mason rings? If it is aluminium you're putting your health at risk.

It really works. I've done it a few years ago, but I prefer scrambled with loads of bacon.
