Carbon Dioxide Cork Rocket

About: I like inventing, experimenting, rockets, film making, and more! I consider myself a teenaged genius. I feel that with enough time I could build anything.

Baking soda and vinegar mixed together creates carbon dioxide. By using the reaction from these two household materials I can launch a cork over two stories in height!

Vinegar
Baking soda
Glass bottle
Cork

Streamer

Step 2: Bicarbonate of Soda

Pour baking soda into the bottle with the funnel.

Step 3: Cork Fitting

The cork should be able to fit in the neck of the bottle snuggly.

Optional: Stick a tack through pieces of streamer to help you track the cork in the sky.

Step 4: Launching

With the funnel in the neck of the bottle, the cork in one hand, and the bottle of vinegar in the other you are ready for launch.
Pour the vinegar into the bottle using the funnel, take out the funnel, push the cork into the neck of the bottle, then stand back. Please note that use of different amounts of vinegar and/or baking soda can cause different results in height.
