There could be steps in making this drink by why over complicate it? Ever hear of an old fashioned before? This old school drink was developed sometime in the 19th century. The original recipe calls for sugar, whiskey (or brandy), muddled citrus rind, and bitters. It is actually a fantastic way to enjoy whiskey, if you’re into that kind of thing. This cocktail ads a splash of cranberry juice not only for color but also to add a little sweetness to the mix, allowing you to subtract the sugar. An old fashioned can be constructed easily with your favorite whiskey or brandy. The addition of cranberry makes it just the right fit for any Thanksgiving day celebration. Give thanks.
Cranberry Old Fashioned
1.5oz Favorite Whiskey or Bourbon (I used Black Cherry Jim Beam <3 )
1 orange slice
1oz Cranberry Juice
2 dashes of Angostura Bitters
Muddle orange slice with the whiskey in a shaker. Pour in ice, cranberry juice and your bitters. Shake and strain over rocks into an old fashioned glass. Garnish with another orange slice, or…nothing! Old fashioned’s don’t need to be garnished with anything, that’s what makes them manly. Enjoy and Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
