Want an easy and delicious recipe? Well these stuffed mushrooms are the perfect solution. This simple but very tasty dish has always been a hit so go ahead and follow these steps to make the best stuffed mushrooms.
Step 1: Ingredients
Here is the list of ingredients you will need:
1. 1 pack of mushrooms (preferably baby portabella)
2. 1 pack of breakfast sausage patties
3. 8 oz. mozzarella cheese
4. 8 oz. cream cheese
- salt and pepper for seasoning
Step 2: Wash the Mushrooms and Take Off Stems
After you wash the mushrooms, you're gonna lightly push the stems until it pops of the mushroom cap. Make sure you keep the stems as you will use them later.
Step 3: Chop the Stems
Now take the stems and start chopping into smaller pieces but make sure to not over chop as we still want some texture to come through in the stuffing and add some more flavor.
Step 4: Cook the Breakfast Sausage Patties
After chopping the stems, keep it to the side as you will add it to the cooked meat. Now turn of the stove to medium and start cooking the patties. Once the patties are fully cooked, start breaking them into chunks and add in the chopped stems. When it's cooked let it cool on the side as you will be using your hands to make the stuffing so we wanna make sure it's not too hot.
Step 5: Making the Stuffing
Take the cooled stuffing, put on some cooking gloves, and start using your hands to break the patties into even smaller pieces. We want to make it ground so there's no big chunks. After it's ground add in the cream cheese and mozzarella and start mixing them together.
Step 6: Stuffing the Mushrooms
Before you stuff the mushroom, add a drizzle of olive oil and sprinkle of salt and pepper to the mushroom caps for taste. At this point go ahead and preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Next take a spoonful of stuffing and add it into the mushroom caps. We want to stuff it as much as we can so don't be afraid to overstuff. Add a bit of mozzarella to the top before putting it in the oven.
Step 7: Serve
Cook the mushrooms for about 15-20 minutes or until the mushrooms are cooked so make sure to check up on them here and there so they don't over cook or are undercook. When its done let it cool for a little and serve.
