Step 1: Creating the Windows

The following information is a single lesson in a larger Tinkercad project. Check out this and more projects on Tinkercad.

Let's add a door to the cabin.

Instructions

  1. Select the remaining box and scale it as shown in the image. This box will make the hole for the windows.
  2. Move the box into the wall where you would like a window. Hold ALT+Move to make a copy and move it to a second location. You will have two boxes.
  3. Before we make the openings for the windows, select the two boxes and hold ALT+SHIFT+Move. Holding SHIFT helps you move the boxes in a straight line. Move them away from the cabin as shown in the image (the green boxes). Select the two box inside the wall and group them with the wall to create the openings.
  4. Select one of the green boxes. Turn the box into a hole and scale it as shown in the image. Align both boxes so they share the same center. Select both boxes and move them into one of the window openings.
  5. Group the two boxes together. This is the window frame.
  6. Place a box on the workplane.
  7. Instead of scaling the box using the handles, Press "R" to switch to the ruler tool. Left click once on the values to type in the height, width, and length values shown in the image.
  8. Use align to move the box to the window frame center.
  9. Use align to move the box to the window frame center.
  10. Scale the box so it touches both sides of the window frame. This window is finished.
  11. Copy the window and move it to the other window opening.
  12. Place a box on the workplane and scale the height, width, and length as shown in the image. This is the door.
  13. Move the door in place and that's it! You are done making your cabin!
  14. Congratulations! Your cabin is complete.
