Introduction: Crispy Crust Peach Cobbler

So today I will show you how to make a Super Crispy Crust Peach Cobbler. Its supper simple and take less that 20 minutes to prepare and then bake for 45 minutes.

Step 1: Lets Get Started

You will need to set your oven to 375° and have it preheating while you start preparing the cobbler. Listed below are all the items you will need to make the best cobbler you ever tasted.

  • Peaches of course (8 fresh peaches if possible but 6 cans of peaches works fine too)
  • 1 Lemon
  • Sugar (LOTS)
  • Brown Sugar
  • Self Rising Flour
  • Whole Milk
  • Oats
  • Salted Butter (real butter) (REAL BUTTER) :)
  • Glass Baking Dish (I used two glass pie dishes)
  • Water in a Spray Bottle

Step 2: Elbow Grease Required

Lets get started.

  • First you will need 1 stick of room temperature butter, you can microwave it for about 20 seconds if its been in the fridge.
  • Next add 1 1/4 cups of granulated sugar to the butter
  • Take a wooden spoon and mead the sugar into the butter. It will take a few minutes but when it ready it will look like butter colored play dough. Make sure you get all the excess form the sides mixed in.

Step 3: Add in Some More Stuff

Next you add in

  • 1/3 cup of oats
  • 1/3 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 1/3 cup of self rising flour

Step 4: Mixing It Up!

Now just mix these items up the same as before. It will take a few minutes to work it all together. Your end result will slightly look like bread crumbs.

Step 5: Almost Done With Crust

Now we will add 2/3 cups of milk.

And toss the spoon in the sink and get out a blender! This gets the batter mixed far better than by hand.

It will look like thick pancake batter when its ready.

Step 6: PEACHES!

So, its October and Fresh peaches were I live are EXPENSIVE. So... Canned peaches it is. I used 6 cans of peaches. I put them in a strainer and let that sit for a few minutes to drain as much of the juice off as possible. Then pour them out even in your glass dish. remember to leave room for your batter.

Step 7: Trust Me on This...

Next you will need to take the lemon and zest it on the peaches. I'm using a smaller dish so it take 1/2 lemon. Then slip the lemon in have and squeeze the juices over the peaches also. This will add a slight tart taste to the cobbler so its not too sweet. Trust me.. This is what sets the desert apart from most!

Step 8: Getting Close!

Pour the batter over your peaches. Doesn't have to be perfect just a nice even layer.

Next pour sugar over the top of the batter. I used about 1 1/4 cups. Be generous here, this is what will make the crust super crispy and flaky.

Step 9: Playing With Water

Now, time for that water mister! Mist the sugar until it is inundated with water. My wife say (until it looks shiney.)

Step 10: NOM NOM NOM

Place your cobbles in the oven. I put a cookie sheet on the rack below the cobbler just in case some bubbles over. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the crust is crunchy. Drag a for or spoon over top to check.

Set on counter for 10 minutes to cool and then ENJOY! VANILLA ICE CREAM OPTIONAL BUT NOT NEEDED!
