- Crochet Hook (D3)

- Yarn (sport weight yarn)

- Scissors

Step 3: Gauge

The heart that you saw at the beginning of the tutorial was 1.6 inches long and wide. In my case, I used a D3 hook and a sport weight yarn. If you used this type of hook and yarn, in 2 inches you should have 9 stitches.

Step 4: Pattern / Chart

To make this heart, in a magic ring, we are going to work three chain stitches, and now:

FIRST HALF:

- One Half Double Treble Crochet
- One Double Treble Crochet
- Two Half Double Treble Crochet
- One Treble Crochet
- Three Half Treble Crochet
- One Treble Crochet and a chain stitch to finish the first half.

SECOND HALF:

- One Treble Crochet
- Three Half Treble Crochet
- One Treble Crochet
- Two Half Double Treble Crochet
- One Double Treble Crochet
- One Half Double Treble Crochet
- Three chain stitches and a slip stitch to finish.

Step 5: Step by Step: FIRST HALF

To begin with this heart, the first thing that we have to do it’s a Magic Ring, which is a basic technique whose Instructable isHERE.

Step 6: Step by Step: FIRST HALF

Once that we have finished the magic ring, we are going to work two chain stitches(to have a total of three chains at the beginning of the round).

To make a chain stitch: yarn over and pull the hook through the loop that was already on it.

Step 7: Step by Step: FIRST HALF

Now work a Half Double Treble Crochet.

To make it: wrap the yarn aorund the hook three times, pass the hook through the ring, yarn over, pull the hook and by now you must have five loops on it, yarn over and pull the hook through the first two loops, yarn over again and pull the hook through the next two loops, yarn over one last time and pull the hook through the three loops left.

Step 8: Step by Step: FIRST HALF

Now a Double Treble Crochet.

To make it: wrap the yarn around the hook three times, pass the hook through the ring, yarn over, pull the hook and by now you must have five loops on it, yarn over and pull the hook through the first two loops, yarn over and pull the hook through the next two loops, yarn over again and pull the hook through the next two loops, yarn over one last time and pull the hook through the two loops left.

Step 9: Step by Step: FIRST HALF

Two Half Double Treble Crochet.

Step 10: Step by Step: FIRST HALF

Right after, One Treble Crochet.

To make it: yarn over twice, pass the hook through the ring, yarn over again, pull the hook and by now you must have four loops on it, yarn over and pull the hook through the first two loops, yarn over again and pull the hook through the next two loops, yarn over one last time and pull the hook throug the two loops left.

Step 11: Step by Step: FIRST HALF

Now, three Half Treble Crochet.

To make a Half Treble Crochet: yarn over twice, pass the hook through the ring, yarn over again, pull the hook and by now you must have four loops on it, yarn over and pull the hook through the first two loops, yarn over again and pull the hook through the three loops left.

Step 12: Step by Step: FIRST HALF

Once that you have the three half treble crochet, work a Treble Crochet and make a chain stitch to finish the first half.

Step 13: Step by Step: FIRST HALF

For the second half:

- One Treble Crochet.

- Three Half Treble Crochet.

- One Treble Crochet.

- Two Half Double Treble Crochet.

- One Double Treble Crochet.

- One Half Double Treble Crochet.

- Three Chain stitches, close a little bit the magic ring and make a slip stitch.

Step 14: Step by Step: FIRST HALF

To make a slip stitch: pass the hook through the ring, yarn over, pull the hook, and now, pull the hook again but now through the first loop on it, counting from right to left.

Step 15: Step by Step: FIRST HALF

Close the magic ring and finish off.
