Crochet Sandals

Why buy when you can make! There's nothing better than having a unique pair of sandals compared to the mass produced ones.

After looking at same things over again and again in all the shops and everyone's feet, I decided to make my own unique and stylish sandals.

You should also make them and get ready for compliments!

Step 1: Materials Required

1. wool - 2 colours, you can also use a thicker wool, I am using 4 ply wool

2. crochet hook - size 4.5

3. sole to make base of the sandal, I used an insole as it's easy to work with

4. scissors

5. needle

6. chalk for marking

Step 2: Cut the Sole to Size

Use sandal or any insole or your feet to mark the sole and cut it to the size as in picture.

Step 3: Crocheting Sole

- take 2 strands of 4 ply wool

-make 23 chains with crochet hook

Step 4: Row 1

-make 3 tr in fourth chain from hook,

-then make 1 tr in each of 19 chains,

-and then 6 tr in last chain, joining to the first tr.

Row 2

-make 3 chains 1 tr at the joint of last row,

-then 2 tr each in next 3 tr,

-then 1 tr in each of next 20 tr,

-then 2 tr in each of next 6 tr,

-1 tr in each of next 20 tr,

-2 tr in next 3 tr, joining to the first tr.

Step 5: Row 3

-make 3 ch, 2 tr each in next 2 tr,

-then 1 tr, 2 tr each in next 2 tr,

-then 1 tr each in next 4 tr,

-1 half tr in next tr

-1 dc in each of 12 tr,

-1 half tr, 3 tr, 2 tr, 1 tr, 2 tr, 1 tr, 2 tr each in next 3 tr,

-1 tr, 2 tr, 1 half tr, 1 dc in each of next 12 tr,

-1 half tr, 1 tr in next 4 tr,

-2 tr, 1 tr, 2 tr, 1 tr, 2 tr in next 2 to join.

Step 6: Row 4

-make 1 dc in upper loop of all the tr of the last row, join with slipst.

-cut and weave in the loose thread.

Mirror the same process for the sole of other sandal.

Step 7: Stitch the Sole

Using needle and same wool stitch the crochet sole to the base sole.

Step 8: Crocheting the Straps for Thumb

Pattern for right sandal, mirror of same has to be done for left sandal.

-start from the mid of the tip of sole, count 16 stitches, join the thread and crochet 1 tr each in 9 chains,

-1 tr in next 6 tr, make next 3 tr to 1 tr - decrease

-3 ch, 1 tr in each tr

-3 ch, 1 tr each in next 3 tr, then decrease next 2 tr to 1 tr

-3 ch, 1 tr in each tr

-3 ch, 1 tr, next 3 tr to 1 tr - decrease

-bind off

Step 9: Crocheting the Second Straps

-start at the 16th stitch from the mid of tip of the other side of sole

- join the thread, crochet 1 tr each in next 11 stitches

-3 ch, 1 tr in first tr, 1 tr each in next 7 tr, next 2 tr to 1 tr - dec. (decrease),

-3 tr to 1 tr - dec., 1 tr in each next 7 tr,

-3 tr in 1 tr - inc., 1 tr in each next 4 tr, 3 tr to 1 tr - dec.,

-3 tr to 1 tr - dec., 1 tr in next 5 tr, 2 tr in next tr - inc. (increase),

-2 tr in 1 tr - inc., 1 tr each in next 4 tr, 3 tr to 1 tr - dec.,

-3 tr to 1 tr - dec., 1 tr in next 3 tr, 3 tr in next tr - inc.,

-2 tr in 1 tr - inc., 1 tr each in next 3 tr, 3 tr to 1 tr - dec.,

-3 tr to 1 tr - dec., 1 tr each in next 2 tr, 3 tr in next tr - inc.,

-3 tr in 1 tr - inc., 1 tr each in next 2 tr, 3 tr to 1 tr - dec.,

- bind off.

Step 10: Make the Other Sandal

crochet the other sandal mirroring the same pattern.

Step 11: Joining the Straps

-join from the 7th dc from the mid of the heel on the thumb side of the sole.

- stitch the thumb strap to the base as in picture

This instructable is for size 38, depending on your feet size increase or decrease the rows of the base and straps.
