Introduction: DIY: Mouse Window

About: a guy that has to much to do and so little time

DIY : Mouse window
This is a small instructable in witch I will show you how to brand your mouse with a logo, name or any design that you want. i like Metallica ...and thats their logo

Step 1: Tools and "wepons"

1 - Dremel
2 - cuting disc
3 - dremel bits
4 - sand paper roll(for the dremel too)

a - a mouse
b - a LED
c - CD case
d - 2 small cables
e - 100 ohm resistor

misc :
soldering iron, sildering paste

Step 2: First Cut

My mouse is a A4tech and i had to cut 2 lairs of plastic .... firts take the tp one of and mark the place u whant to cut out
be shure not ti cut iver the screw suport, or else the mouse wil close no more
Ok firs part is done... do not throw the pice yet u will need it to mahe the window

Step 3: Second Cut

Put the top back on and mark on it the place you whant to cut
after that u cand asembel the mouse ....voala......no i am not finished yet

Step 4: Window Cuting

You mde the frame for the wondow nou it is time to make a windou for our mouse.
If u have a hot air gun it wil be perfect if not ....it wil look like mine

If you have a hot air gun take a CD case and cut off the margins and put it over the mouse BEFORE U MAKE THE WINDOW, star heating the case, very very slowly so not to form wrinkles or to make the plastic white. Heat it until it reaches the contour of the mouse and after that you can do the cutting!

Ok, take the pice and mark out on the CD case
Use the sand paper roll to make it fit and that is it

Step 5: Engraving the Logo

Find a logo that you want and print it out, stick it under the window with some tape and use a small bit to carve it out

Depending on the complexity of the design u have to use smaller and smaller bits, I used a 1.5 mm bit and it looks fine I think

Step 6: Light Me Up Scoty

OK ...take the led and grinde it up in such a way to keep it working but to be as small as posible (i forgot to take a picture and i glued ti )
Take the 100Ohm resistor an solder it to one of the led-s terminals

Step 7: Power ...

You take the power from the mouse ...it has 4 wires (Vcc, data1, data2, gnd) i think that is the order, but it dose not matter because u need the firs and last wire, usually there is a capacitor there put in parallel with the main power, you can take the power from it's terminals u do not even need a multi meter to find the gnd and Vcc if u know simple electronics.
The capacitor is marked with a gray band with a minus sign on it, that is the gnd.

After finding these solder the wires to the led and resistor if it dose not light up, change polarity.
Still no light ...check the led or the resistor

Step 8: The End

This is what you should end up with
