Introduction: DIY Bluetooth Speaker (CubeBOX)

About: Hey Guys, My name is Surajit Majumdar. I'm from India. now I'm 19 years old, studying at college. Making diy project its my hobby ,passion and I love making awesome diy project from scratch, I had started DIY …

Hello Guys, In this instructable, I am making an amazing Bluetooth speaker. So let's get started :)

MEET CubeBOX:)
CubeBox is a DIY ultra-portable wireless speaker with impressive bass and attractive design. Featuring high performance audio performance with dual full-range stereo 65mm speaker. This versatile speaker allows you to stay connected with your friend with long lasting battery life. CubeBOX provides upto 8 hours battery backup at continuous music playback with a single charge.

I'm making this Bluetooth speaker using the acrylic sheet, I really love this material cause it easy to cut, bend and shape. it is also so affordable and it can be found at any hardware store. If you are making bt speaker the first time then use this material, you can also go for wood or plywood.

Specs & Features:

  • Dual 3W Full Range Speaker.
  • PAM8403 High Efficiency Amplifier.
  • Long Lasting 5200mAh Battery.
  • Micro USB Charging.

Here's the complete tutorial and sound demo

Step 1: Parts List

We need these following parts and tools to make this Bluetooth speaker.

  • PAM8403 Stereo Amplifier Module.
  • 3W Full Range Speaker (2x)
  • Micro USB Charging Module.
  • Bluetooth Module.
  • 18650 li-on Battery (2x)
  • DC Switch.
  • Boost Converter.
  • 4mm Acrylic Sheet.

Tools List:

  • Mini Handsaw.
  • Rotary Tool/Dremel(optional).
  • Soldering Iron.
  • Hot Glue Gun.
  • Wire Cutter.
  • Masking Tape.
  • SuperGlue.
  • Marker Pen.
  • Metal File.
  • SandPaper.

Step 2: Mount the Speakers

Here I'm using hot glue to mount the speakers. Just apply a thick layer of glue to mount the speakers. If you want you can use other suitable glue.

Step 3: Assemble the Frame

First apply superglue on the speaker's frame edges then carefully position the 2nd frame and hold it for little while until it stucked properly. After that take 3rd frame and apply superglue on its edges then carefully attach it with 1st & 2nd frame.

Step 4: Circuit Diagram

Connect everything according to the circuit diagram.

Step 5: Soldering the Modules

In this step I'm going to make connection between all the modules. So heat up your soldering iron.

  • First solder power wire with amplifer's Positive and GND Pads.
  • Now solder audio input conection L, R,G
  • At last solder the audio output wires, make sure the polarity is correct.
  • Similarly solder wires with bt module.

Step 6: Adding the Step Up Module

Here I'm using the step up module cause our Amplifier and Bluetooth Module requires 5v power to work properly. But our battery can provide only 3.7v that's why we this step up module to increase its voltage to 5v. This is done by twisting the blue potentiometer anti clockwise until we get the reading we are after. Then solder wires to the output of step up module's positive and negative terminal. We'll also solder the wires to the output of chaging module.

Step 7: Mount the Charging Module and Switch

First apply little bit superglue to attach the charging module. after that use hot glue to attach it more firmly. Also attach the switch using the same method. Now solder the charging module positive output wire with the power switch.

Step 8: Mount the Battery

First apply hot glue on the battery then attach it with back pannel. After attaching the battery with the back pannel now solder the positive and negative of battery to charging module's input pads

Step 9: Mount the All Modules

First mount the boost converter using hot glue then similarly attach the other modules. Then solder 2nd wire of switch to the positive terminal of step up module. Also solder output GND wire of charging module to the input of step up module.

Note: check polarity and short circuit before soldering everything

Step 10: Attach the Back Panel

First, apply a big amount of superglue on edges, then carefully attach the back panel, and hold it little while until it get stuck properly. At the end apply hot glue to attach the back panel more strongly. After attaching the back panel solder the top speaker's wire.

Note: Make sure that the speaker polarity is correct.

Step 11: Final Assemble

Now I'm going to attach all the panels. Similarly attach all the panels like previous steps. After that use sandpaper and flat metal files to clean the extra edges.

Finally We're done now. I hope this tutorial help you to make your own awesome bluetooth speaker. If you made a bt speaker like this then share its picture i would like to see it.
