Introduction: DIY Easy Origami Corner Bookmark
In this DIY, we'll be making a Cute Flower Petal Origami Bookmark. This is a super easy, stylish, girly bookmark, which makes a change from scraps of paper or turning over the corner of the page. Plus it's made from recyclable materials!
Step 1: Materials
You will need:
An unwanted book (you can make it out of either a novel, newspaper, a manuscript, or just card or paper)
Clear tape
Split pins
Scissors
Ruler
Pencil
Craft Glue
Glue container
Toothpick
Corner punch (optional)
Step 2: Cut a Square From Your Unwanted Book
Use 12.5cm x 12.5cm for your measurements.
Step 3: Cut 8 Smaller Squares
Cut out 8 smaller squares (again from the unwanted book).
Use 5.5cm x 5.5cm for your measurements.
Step 4: Fold Down Two Corners
Fold down two corners to create the bookmark base, using the larger 12.5cm x 12.5cm square.
Step 5: Secure Flaps in Place
Secure the flaps in place using clear tape.
Fold the tape underneath the bottom for a neat finish.
Step 6: Cut the Ends of the Tape Off
Cut the end of the tape of with scissors.
Cut the tape as close to the bookmark base as possible.
Step 7: Fold the Bottom Flap Up
Fold the bottom flap up and score, making sure it is as lined up and straight as possible.
Step 8: Glue Flap in Place
Make sure to glue the edge and corners down firmly.
Step 9: [Optional] Round Corners Off
Use either a pair of scissors or the corner punch to round the corners off.
Step 10: Fold Small Square in Half
Repeat for all eight 5.5cm x 5.5cm squares.
Step 11: Fold in Half the Other Way
Repeat for all eight 5.5cm x 5.5cm squares.
Step 12: Fold Into a Triangle
Repeat for all eight 5.5cm x 5.5cm squares.
Step 13: Fold Another Triangle
Fold another triangle on the other side, and repeat for all eight 5.5cm x 5.5cm squares.
Step 14: Push in One Side and Fold
Repeat for all eight 5.5cm x 5.5cm squares.
Step 15: Push in the Other Side and Fold
Repeat for all eight 5.5cm x 5.5cm squares.
Step 16: Turn Up One Corner
Repeat for all eight 5.5cm x 5.5cm squares.
Step 17: Turn Up the Other Corner
Repeat for all eight 5.5cm x 5.5cm squares.
Step 18: Make 8 in Total!
Look at the picture to help you.
Step 19: Apply Glue to One Side of the Petal
Make sure to get underneath the turned up corners.
Step 20: Attach the Petal to Another Petal
Hold firmly in place for a few seconds.
Step 21: Attach the Petals Until You Get to the Last One
Hold firmly in place for a few seconds.
Step 22: When You Get to the Last Petal Put Blue on Both Sides
Attach to the flower and hold firmly in place for a few seconds.
Step 23: Apply Glue to the Petals to Make It Lie Flat
Press down and hold for a few seconds.
Step 24: Apply Glue to the Back of the Flower
Attach it to the bookmark base.
Step 25: Attach the Flower to the Bookmark
Line up the top petal with the peak of the bookmark triangle.
Step 26: Attach a Split Pin to the Center of the Flower
Making sure the prongs lie flat.
Step 27: [Optional] Extra Touch
If you want yours to look more complicated and look more of an intricate design, you can also make a smaller flower to go in the middle of this one. But if you'd rather keep it how it is, that's fine too!
