Step 1: WHY I DECIDED TO MAKE ONE
led flashlights available in the market are either useless or not so cheap.
most of them are non rechargeable but the few rechargeable flashlights also don't have the lithium batteries which give a longer runtime.
Step 2: THAT DAY...
a regular day of my life,
i was thinking what to make today.and suddenly the diffuser of my study lamp(led bulb) fell over me
when i looked up i was amazed by the brightness of those leds.
now i knew what are we gonna be making today
Step 3: WHAT YOU NEED
led bulb or led panel or smd leds
2.1mm power plug(any type connector)
Step 4: PREPARING THE LEDS
i got my leds from a old led bulb whose circuit was faulty
you can either buy your entire led panel or solder some smd leds
note:these small smd leds are more efficient than a bigger led like a 10w or 100w led
even heating is less in smaller leds
unlike bigger leds these can be directly powered by 3.7v li-ion batteries saving any type of boost up efficiency losses or even making smaller battery packs
Step 5: MAKING HOLES
Mark and create space for the charging connector and the switch using a soldering iron.
Step 6: ELECTRONICS
connect all the components according to the circuit diagram and put them in place
Step 7: CHARGING INDICATOR
1K ohm resistor and 3mm white led connected to the power plug act as the charging indicator.
Step 8: HEATSINK
Instead of using those bulky aluminium heatsinks metal coins did the same job for me and then glue up everything.
Step 9: CHARGING UP
it can be charged with any 5v power supply may it be a powerbank or a 5v usb phone charger.
Step 10: I MADE SEVERAL PROTOTYPES
EACH ONE HAVE MANY UNIQUE FEATURES BUILTIN.
Step 11: OUTDOOR TESTING
TEST RESULTS PROVED OUT TO BE BETTER THAN EXPECTED
my flashlights were wide beam and 180 degree wide angle
but you can add a convex lens to achieve a distant and focused beam.
