Introduction: DIY METAL STORAGE BINS

About: A DIY blog about crafting our first home into our dream home in Charleston, South Carolina.

Metal storage bins are trendy, and I was inspired by seeing sheets of decorative metal to make my own. It was actually really simple to do and turned out great!

Step 1: Size Your Metal

Design a X shape using your desired height, width, and depth dimensions and use that shape to decide what size metal sheeting you will need.

It will need to be the size of 2x the height + the width in one direction and 2x the height + the depth in the other direction.

Our bins are 12″x12″x12″ so they needed to be 36″x36″ metal sheets.

Step 2: Cut Your Metal

Use metal snips to cut your sheet into the proper size and shape.

Step 3: Fold Your Metal

Use a straight board to fold up the size and get a crisp fold.

Step 4: Sew Up Edges

Use floral wire to sew up the edges.

Step 5: Enjoy Your New Storage Bins!
