DIY Purple Rain Skirt

Introduction: DIY Purple Rain Skirt

Prince has been one of my favorite artists since I was a little girl. I was intrigued by a picture of a skirt I saw online, it reminded me of a poodle skirt, yet it contained Prince's logo from the Purple Rain movie.

I knew that I had to re-create this skirt for myself and that's exactly what i did! This skirt was pretty quick and simple, all I had to do was cut out a circle skirt, attach a waistband and insert an elastic band. For the skirt applique I found the Purple Rain film poster online, enlarged the photo, add some purple raindrops, and erase the background. Once I was satisfied with the design I printed it out, cut out the shapes, and traced it onto the felt. From there I attached the pieces to the skirt with glue and I was done!

Here's the link to the PDF file I used to create the Purple Rain applique. I'm extremely happy with the final product, I think I might create another one completely with fleece fabric.

It turned out really cute! BTW, he was one of my fave artist's too, and my first crush on an artist. :-)
