Step 1: Get a Rock

Your rock should be smooth enough to write on, but it could have a few bumps. Shape doesn't matter.

Step 2: Draw

Draw or paint your design on the rock. For this one, I'm using markers. You can see it doesn't come out as bright, so I recommend permanent markers or paint.

Step 3: Top Coat

Put on a nail polish top coat. It could be a clear polish, too, but a top coat will make it smoother, depending on which one you use. Let dry for 12 hours.

Step 4: Done

You have your pretty rock art. Mine wasn't too complicated, but you can paint your entire rock. You can use this for almost any occasion. Birthdays, Christmas, Valentine's day, or just because why not.

I have noticed these have started showing up at wakes. they ask people to drop the stone in a place they had a good memory of the person. some have even had ashes epoxy on them. then people place a tag on family's google map page and share the memory of where they left the stone.

Interesting. Admittedly, this is one kind of gift that I had never thought of before. Thanks for sharing.
