This is the step-by-step guide on how to assemble your new DIY skate stool.
Some of the rods can have a bit of grease/oil on them from the factory to protect them from rust. During this assembly, your hands might get a bit dirty and it's recommended that you don't wear you nicest white shirt during assembly.
First we are gonna check that you have everything you will need!
Let's get started!
Step 1: Checking the Contents!
The only tools required for assembly of the kit is a screwdriver fit for the m4 bolts and something to hold the nuts in place. A pair of pliers can do the trick if you don't have the proper wrench.
The following parts are included in the kit
Tube with welded endplate x2
Long tube with double threads x1
Short tube with double threads x6
90 deg angle x4
M4 bolt x8 + 1 extra
M4 nut x8 + 1 extra
Plastic foot x4
Thread tape x1
Step 2: Thread Taping All the Threads
Start with taping all the threads with the included thread-tape.
Make sure that you only use the tape at the top of the threads, so that it goes in nicely and doesn't stick out when you screw the parts together.
Tape around 4-6 times around each thread on every part.
(You can skip threading the 2 rods with the endplates, since these are going to be used in the assembly of the stool. These can be threaded later, but are threaded now in the guide.)
When you are finished, all your parts should look something like the picture above.
Step 3: Assembly of Cross Bar
Tightly thread on the two T-tubes on each end of the double threaded cross bar. This can be tightened by hand for now. Make sure that the two T-tubes are parallel to each other like in the picture.
Step 4: Assembly of Legs
Thread on another T-tube on each side using the small double threaded tubes. Tighten by hand and make sure that the T-tubes point outwards, perpendicular to the crossbar.
Step 5: Feet
Thread on the 90deg angles tight by hand. Theres no need that they point straight down at this point. Next step is to fully tighten the assembly.
Step 6: Tighten the Cross-bar Assembly
Firstly, be careful not to scratch the ground with these rough pipes!
Tighten the assembly as in the pictures.
Stand on the lower legs and tighten the cross-bar by standing on one leg-assembly and rotating the other leg assembly clockwise. (picture 1) Tighten a few times until stiff and until feet assembly's are parallel.(picture 2)
Now tighten the leg assembly joint by rotating the T-tube clockwise. (picture 3). Do this on both sides.
The assembly should now be back again to looking like picture 4.
Step 7: Tighten Feet.
Use one of your long tubes with endplates to screw into the 90deg angle feet. only screw it in a few turns/threads since this is only used as leverage when tightening the feet.
Use this method to fully tighten all the feet and stopping when they are tight and pointing straight down.
When you are finished, your assembly should look like picture 3.
Step 8: Plastic Feet.
This is a good time to insert you plastic feet.
Use a coin to screw them into the 90deg angles.
Do not use excessive force.
Step 9: Rods for Skateboard, Placement - Checking Orientation.
There are 2 ways to mount the threaded rod with endplates, depending on how long your skateboard wheelbase is.
The endplates are asymmetrical and the slots can be positioned closer or further away by rotating the rods.
In picture one, the slots are further away, and in picture 2 they are closer.
Mount the rods by hand first, and then checking with your skateboard which position that works best for you.
After checking this, you now know in what position you want to stop tightening these rods. Tightening is performed in the next step.
Step 10: Tighten the Rods With Endplates.
Mount the skateboard to one of the endplates with the nuts and bolts, tighten these by hand, and then use your deck as leverage, threading the rod down into the T-tube. Make sure everything else stays in place.
Repeat for the other side.
Make sure that the slots are perfectly aligned when stopping. Loosen the nuts and bolts, and securely mount the skateboard to both endplates.
Step 11: Congratulations! You Are Now Finished!
