Deathberry Scones look delightfully gruesome and moldy for Halloween or any Gothic themed party, yet taste delicious.

The Recipe:

3 cup flour + some extra
1/2 cup sugar
5 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup of butter (or some butter and 1/4 cup oil)
1 cup or so of mulberries or blueberries (or raisins and blue-purple dye etc)
1 egg
up to cup of milk

---
Moldy Soft Cheese Several grains of cooked white rice

Step 1: Mixing

3 cup flour + some extra
1/2 cup sugar 5 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup of butter (or some butter and 1/4 cup oil)
1 cup or so of mulberries or blueberries (or raisins and blue-purple dye etc)
1 egg
up to cup of milk

-------------------------------

mix dry ingredients in a bowl.
add the butter and/or oil component and mix into dry until pebbly mix in egg and berries with wooden spoon add milk 1/4 cup at a time and mix in with hands until dough is just moistened spritz with flour if you go overboard repeat

Step 2: On the Pan

ball up and flatten into pucks about 1/2" high

Step 3: Baking

Bake 400F 15-17 minutes depending on thickness (keep eating them until they are right!)

Step 4: Presentation

The Deathberry scones although delicious, look best presented with other death themed items.
Old chicken bones, Moldy cheese, and the piece de resistance...rice "maggots" crawling around them.
Mix with dead flowers for that Victorian splendour.

Serve on equally deadly broken plates, or even better, aged tin plates with flour preferably slightly toasted sprinkled around the corners.

Happy Halloween!
