This is a delicious sauce! It is thick and creamy and works with nearly anything. However, I like it the best on pasta, so here we go!
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
3 and 3/4 cups milk
1/3 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt
About 1/2 a tsp of chopped basil
Melt the butter in a large sauce pan. When it is fully melted, add in the flour and whisk slowly.
Add the milk gradually. Once it is in, whisk occasionally until the mixture begins to boil. Begin to whisk frequently. You will notice the mixture thickening into a creamy consistency.
Add the Parmesan cheese. Turn off the burner and incorporate the basil and salt. Let sit for about 3 minutes, then serve over seafood, pasta, veggies, or whatever you desire!
