Introduction: Double Chocolate Crackles

Here's a delicious tutorial on how to make Double Chocolate Crackles from Food Network. The recipe makes about 24 crackles, and only takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes, including chilling time.

Step 1: Ingredients

What you'll need for this recipe:
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar

Step 2: Dry Ingredients

In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the 1 1/2 cups flour, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1/2 cup cocoa powder,  1 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Mix until it's all about the same color.

Step 3: Wet Ingredients

Now, mix the 6 tablespoons melted butter and 2 eggs into the dry mixture. Whisk it together, and then stir in the 1/2 cup white chocolate chips.

One of the first times I made this recipe, all I had were Reese's chocolate chips, but they worked really well, especially if you like peanut butter.

Step 4: Chill It!

Cover the bowl with tin foil or plastic wrap and stick it in the fridge for about 1 hour, or until firm.

Step 5: Preparation

While the batter is chilling, preheat your oven to 350º. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and sift 1 cup of confectioners' sugar into a shallow bowl.

Step 6: Roll 'Em Up

When your batter is done chilling, roll a tablespoon of dough into a ball with your (hopefully clean) hands. Then, drop the ball into the bowl of confectioners' sugar and roll it around until it is coated. Repeat this until you have 12 balls of dough on your baking pan. This will be the first batch. Unless you have two baking pans and want to bake them at the same time. That's okay, too.

Step 7: Bake Them

Stick the baking pan in your preheated oven, and bake for 10 minutes, until the cookies are puffy and cracked. While these are baking, prepare the other batch. When the first batch is done baking, let them cool for a few minutes before switching them out with the uncooked batch. Bake these for the same time as before.

Step 8: Enjoy!

Your Double Chocolate Crackles are now done! Enjoy your delicious, bite-sized treats.
