Introduction: EVH Skateboard

Today, I'm showing you how to make a black and white Eddie Van Halen skateboard.

First off, you will need:
*A skateboard deck (I recommend an old one or a really cheap one so if you mess up a little, it wont really matter.)
* Dupli-Color Filler primer, Black gloss, and White gloss spray paint.
*Sand paper (150 grit and 60 grit. use the 60 grit first, then use the 150 grit.)
*Painters tape (The blue tape.) and artists tape (thinest type.)
*Razor blade or an exacto knife. (optional)

Step 1: Remove Hardware.

Remove the screws that keep the trucks on. Remove the hardware until it's just the deck. After all of that, start sanding the bottom of the deck with the 60 grit. After sanding for a little with the 60 grit, switch to the 150 grit and start sanding with that until it is smooth. (The sanding is optional, I just did it to make it feel nice and smooth.)

Step 2: Prime

Before you paint, put  the painters tape on the edges overlapping for it goes on the grip tape a little, and leave the tape on until step 5. Now, you will need to prime the board in 4 thin layers then wait about 10 minutes then give it another coat of 4 thin layers. Do sets of 4, about 3 or 4 times and between the sets wait 10-15 minutes. Thin layers are the key for this.

Step 3: Paint Black

After you primed it, wait about 30 minutes for the primer to dry. Then paint with Black gloss spray paint. Do the same thing with the black spray paint 3-4 sets of 4 thin layers. Let the black spray paint dry for 2 days.

Step 4: Make Design

After 2 days, use the painters tape and the artists tape and try to make the stripes like the ones on his guitar. I didn't use any straight across stripes on mine because there isn't any straight lines on the guitar, but it's your choice. There is a star and a squiggly line on the guitar, I put the squiggly line on it, because I think it's an important part of it, but I didn't put the star because it seemed a little hard to copy it.

Step 5:

After finishing the stripes, spray paint the board white with  3-4 sets of 4 thin layers. Let the board dry for about 5-6 hours then take the tape off SLOWLY, and you can take it off the edges. Sorry I don't have a picture for this step.

Step 6:

then wait for the paint to dry a little bit more, so don't touch it for about one more day then the board is finished. Hope you like the EVH skateboard!
