Introduction: Earth Science Jars

About: I'm a 15 year old homeschooler. i like woodworking, video gaming, and hanging out with my dog.

This project is educational, fun and mess free!

If you happen to be a fiber artist this is a super fun way to use up all that random wool roving!

Supplies

- clean jars or bottles

- wool roving

- chopsticks, bamboo skewers, straws or pencils

Step 1: Gathering Materials

This is a great project for using up bags of mixed colored roving.

I used random cleaned and dried bottles.

Step 2: Add the Layers

You can find images of layers that appear in Earth Science on the internet and in books for inspiration

Now you can start adding your layers!

Push the roving down repeatedly as you add layers.

Use chopsticks, skewers, pencils or straws to help push the roving where you want it.

Step 3: Display Your Jars

Share what you've made with others and discuss what you've learned!

These look especially pretty next to a window!

Step 4: Take It Further

You can print this worksheet to color and label for a complete lesson

Step 5: Have Fun

I created this jar just for fun!
