Introduction: Easy Playdough
I have bought playdough from the store a few different times and it doesn't last very long, it seems to dry out pretty quick. This playdough recipe is affordable and easy to make and keeps well in an airtight container. My kids absolutely love it!

Step 1: Ingredients & Tools
Flour, vegetable oil, water, salt, lemon juice ( I used freshly squeezed lemon) food coloring
Measuring cups, tablespoon, a medium size sauce pan, wooden spoon, a small mixing bowl, sheet of wax paper or a plastic bag, cookie cutters and random objects for playdough fun!
Step 2: Recipe
1 C flour
3/4 C water
1/4 C salt
1 tbsp vegetable oil
3 tbsp lemon juice
Food coloring (10 drops or more)
Mix together flour and salt then set aside. Boil the water, oil, lemon juice, and food coloring over medium high heat. Remove from heat and quickly stir in the dry mixture.
Transfer over to the wax paper or a plastic bag. *This dough is extremely hot! So please do not let children help with this step* You may want to let it cool for a couple minutes then knead it several times until soft and smooth.
Step 3: Endless Possibilities
There is so much fun to do with this playdough. It is extremely easy to work with. You can use cookie cutters and various toys. The clean up is easy. I like it for a rainy day or when my kids seem bored. Have fun!
