Easy Safety Glasses Storage

Introduction: Easy Safety Glasses Storage

About: I am a high school social studies teacher; Government & Economics, US History and Psychology. Tinkering and Instructables are a my downtime activities.

I needed a simple and easy way to keep my safety glasses organized, this is it.

Step 1: All You Need Is a Wire Coat Hanger and 10 Minutes

Step 2: Cut the Top Off the Hanger

I left about 3 inches of wire past the bottom bend on each side.

Step 3: Straighten the Slight Kink

I straightened the slight kink in the wire and bent the remaining portion to form an 90 degree angle on both sides. The result is something that looks like a very skinny towel bar.

Step 4: Mark 1.5" From the Bend

I gave myself 1.5" of reveal.

Step 5: Mark the Shelf and Drill

I held the wire against the shelf for a rough measurement, then determined that the wire was 3/32".

Grab a drill and poke two holes into the face of the shelf deep enough for the remaining wire.

Step 6: Finished

Safety glasses are light, so I'm not worried about it collapsing.

It took me more time to write this than it did to do the project!
