Introduction: Electro-Motor Masco G23
This is how to build your very own, Electromagnetic motor with some simple pieces and tools. Lets get started!
Step 1: Tools and Materials
1 x Rubber band
1 x D cell battery
1 x Spool of magnetic wire
2 x Paperclips
1 x piece of sandpaper
1 x Magnet
1 x Pair of Wire cutters
Step 2: Magnetic Wire
Take the spool of Magnetic Wire and measure out a piece that is roughly your arm length. Use the wire cutters to cut the piece of wire.
Step 3: Coil the Wire
Use the D cell battery as a guide and wrap the wire around the battery and wrap the extra wire around the newly formed coil.
Step 4: Shaving the Coil
Use the sand paper to sand one end completely to get rid of the coating. Use the sand paper to sand half of one of the ends on the coil. I added a note on the picture so you can see what I mean. This allows current to go through the wire.
Step 5: Paperclips
Take your paper clips and bend them like so. Do this on a flat surface so they remain as straight as possible.
Step 6: Battery Prep
Put the elastic around the Battery like so.
Step 7: Asemble Battery
Insert the paper clips on either side of the battery in the elastic. Place a magnet in the middle of the battery.
Step 8: Place the Coil
Your motor is complete. Give it a small push to start the rotation.
Step 9: Troubleshooting
- Also if it doesn't spin still you may need to sand more off the coil
- The battery you're used may be dead so try another battery
Step 10: Suggestions
- Also the bigger the magnet, the faster it goes
- I wrapped the elastic around the battery to tighten it up and eliminate the possibility of it falling apart
