Introduction: FOSS Swinger

In order to construct our FOSS Swinger you will need: 1. String 2. A paper clip 3. Scissors 4. Tape 5. A long ruler or measuring tape Before beginning we need to decide how long we want our Swinger to be. You may find it helpful to secure your ruler or tape measure to the table with tape.

Step 1: Tie the String to the Paper Clip

Tie the string to the paper clip. You want to tue the string so that the two loop end of the paper clip is the end away from the knot. After tightening the knot I like to cut the excess string off. Don't cut too close to the knot or it may come loose over time.

Step 2: Cut the String

Hold the end if the paper clip away from the knot firmly against the start (0 cm mark or 0 inch mark) of your ruler or tape. Measure about 4 cm beyond the length you selected for your Swinger. Cut the string at that position. In the steps the length is not crucial but err on the side of making your string too long rather than too short.

Step 3: Loop the Loop

Now the lengths become more critical. Again hold the end if the paper clip away from the knot firmly against the start (0 cm mark or 0 inch mark) of your ruler or tape. Keeping the string taut run your thumbnail along the string until you have your thumbnail on the length you selected for your Swinger. Carefully pick up the string and form a loop by folding along your thumbnail.

Step 4: Complete the Swinger

Leaving about 1 cm loop free use tape to secure the loose end if the string. Your swinger is now complete Shown here with single pennies used as weights.
