This is a very simple yet one of the most effective pranks that you can pull. All you need is a computer and a VERY basic knowledge of using a special tool called Inspect Element, which you can use to edit a website. In case you are wondering, this prank is not permanent, as it goes away when you refresh the page.

I have successfully spread a few rumors throughout my school using this. It is just hilarious seeing people talk about Justin Beiber's drug lab or me saving a cat from a 13 story fall. USE CAUTION!!! This prank is likely to spread very fast and there can be trouble if anything goes wrong. Without any further or do, let's begin this instructable.

Step 1: Choose a News Article Online.

This is very simple. I used ABC news, but you can use anything you want. Heck, you don't even need to use a news site. You can very easily use a Youtube video for example. Anyway, try using something with about as many paragraphs as you need, as it is much more simple.

Step 2: Highlight the Text You Want to Edit

In this case, the title is first. Highlight it and right click. There should be, at the bottom, a button that says Inspect Element. This only works on Google Chrome as far as I know. You can also try using Ctrl + Shift + I.

Step 3: Edit the Title

Find the title of the article. It shouldn't be hard to find at all. Then double click it. Now erase the line and put in a new title. For example, 2 very effective types of titles are:

A celebrity: It should talk about something bad happening to him/her. Ex: "Justin Beiber's Meth Lab Discovered."

You: The article should tell about you doing something heroic. Ex: "(Your Name) saves cat from 12 story plunge."

Step 4: Continue Editing Paragraphs

Continue highlighting, and inspecting element on every line. Be CREATIVE as much as possible. Make your story stand out from every other story in the news.

Step 5: Delete Unneeded Paragraphs

There will most likely be extra paragraphs that you don't need. All you have to do is simply delete the text using Inspect Element.

Step 6: Take a Picture and Use at Your Disposal

You most likely might need to revise your fake story up a bit to sound more professional. When you are fully finished, take a picture through your phone or camera. Now get creative with spreading your fakes news article. Send it in emails, text message, show it to friends, whatever you want! Have fun!
