1 Piece of string

Step 2:

Cross one side to make a loop then take it Behind the main piece.

Step 3:

Pull the same end through the loop.

    I sailed a Hobie 16 for years. The Figure 8 stopper knot was the last knot on the main sheet. For those who are not sailors, that knot keeps the main from unwinding through the blocks if things go bad for you. And congratulations on finding the easiest way to tie the knot. Most people, even sailors, seem to make too much of it. You twist a loop and pull the end through it. Easy.

    I learned this knot when I started to sail. You mostly use it at the end of the main sheet.
