Step 1: Supplies, Measurements, and Abbreviations

MEASUREMENTS

Approx 46" [117 cm] circumference x 45" [114.5 cm] long (excluding tail).

1st rnd: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each ch around. 80 hdc. Join with sl st to first hdc.

2nd rnd: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each hdc around. Join with sl st to first hdc. Rep last rnd until work from beg measures 24" [61 cm].

Shape body:

1st rnd: Ch 2. *1 hdc in each of next 8 hdc. Hdc2tog. Rep from * around. 72 sts. Join with sl st to first hdc.

2nd to 6th rnds: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each st around. Join with sl st to first hdc.

7th rnd: Ch 2. *1 hdc in each of next 7 hdc. Hdc2tog. Rep from * around. 64 sts. Join with sl st to first hdc.

8th to 12th rnds: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each st around. Join with sl st to first hdc.

Upper Jaw

Lay piece flat, with front of work facing. Join A with sl st to top right corner.

1st row: Ch 2 (does not count as hdc). 1 hdc in each of next 40 hdc. Turn. Leave rem sts unworked.

2nd row: Ch 2. Hdc2tog over first 2 hdc. 1 hdc in each hdc to last 2 hdc. Hdc2tog. Turn. 38 sts.

3rd row: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each st to end of row. Turn. Rep last 2 rows until 32 sts rem.

Next row: Ch 2. Hdc2tog over first 2 sts. 1 hdc in each hdc to last 2 sts. Hdc2tog. Turn. Rep last row until 18 sts rem. Fasten off.

Lower Jaw Work as given for Upper Jaw on rem 40 sts.

Step 4: Gums and Teeth

Gums

Attach B with sl st to top right corner of Upper Jaw.

1st rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in first st. Work 16 sc across top of Upper Jaw to last st. 3 sc in last st. Work 24 sc down left side of Upper Jaw. Work 24 sc up right side of Lower jaw. Work 3 sc in top corner. Work 16 sc across top of Lower Jaw. Work 3 sc in corner. Work 24 sc down left side of Lower Jaw. Work 24 sc up right side of Upper jaw. Work 2 sc in same sp as first sc. Join with sl st to first sc. 140 sc.

2nd rnd: Ch 1. Work 1 sc in each sc around, having 3 sc in center sc of each top corner of Jaws. Join C with sl st to first sc. 148 sc.

Teeth

1st rnd: With C, ch 5. 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. *1 hdc in next ch. 1 dc in next ch. 1 tr in next ch. Skip next 3 sc. Sl st in next sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.

Step 5: Eyes and Fin

Eyes (make 2)

Outer Eye

1st rnd: With C, ch 4. 11 dc in 4th ch from hook (counts as 12 dc). Join with sl st to first dc.

2nd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in each dc around. Join with sl st to first dc. Fasten off.

Inner Eye

With D, ch 3. 12 hdc in 3rd ch from hook. Join with sl st to first dc. Fasten off. Sew Eyes on front of Sack as shown in picture.

Fin

With A, ch 2.

1st row: 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Turn.

2nd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. 2 sc in last sc. Turn. 3 sc.

3rd row: Ch 1. 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn. 4 sc.

4th row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to last sc. 2 sc in last sc. 5 sc. Rep last 2 rows 9 times more. 23 sc. Do not fasten off. Ch 1. Work 1 rnd of sc evenly around outer edge of Fin, having 5 sc in top of Fin and corners. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
