Introduction: Find Online Game/app Resources Eg: Facebook Game/app/website Files. (Educational Purpose Only)

About: game developer, artist, engineering student, readaholic, anime lover,

Hello guys.

This is my first Instructable after a long time. This time I'll be showing you how to find game/application resources of online games/apps on internet, resources such as image files, character dialogs, game sounds, music, gui graphics, all kinds of codes, links, game item values (ids) etc.

This Instructable is for educational purpose only. The tool today we will be using is "Cheat Engine". There are several other tools out there with more mature names, though since Cheat Engine is so well known and popular its the most updated for all web browsers, its an easy tool to use for this Instructable.

I am a Firefox loyal hence I will be providing all my instructions for Firefox web browser only. Although this process can be used on all web browsers. And browser specific info can be asked in comments.

Please remember to never ever use any content that is not truly yours. All the images, audio, document files etc you find using this process if obviously copyrighted by their respective owners hence using their material/resources without permission and without their knowledge is ILLEGAL. This tutorial is for educational use only!!! I do not take credit or responsibility for anyone's actions reading/using/following this instructable posted on www.instructable.com for educational use only.

Step 1: So Lets Begin

So lets begin. For this tutorial we will be searching resource files of the newest
Facebook game "AMC:The Walking Dead Social Game"

Before we begin make sure to close all applications, if Firefox is running then CLEAR
all history,cache and everything, re-log into Instructable.com.

Now Login to Facebook, start the game, play something in game or just do anything
inside it, this is to make sure more files have been loaded to game's hidden cache
location. This makes searching terms easier and fetches more results.

Step 2:

Now start CheatEngine. Click the Monitor Icon. A "Process list window will open."
Select Plugin Container.exe process and OPEN. (If you see more then 1 of the same
process then try both or just clear all history/cache of Firefox and retry)

Step 3:

Now in order to get more results successfully and more effectively we will just search
any amount shown in game for example ammo, health, life value etc. Here I am searching
FOOD which is 167, I am just typing it in the VALUE box with default options. Now I
clicked NEW SCAN to scan the typed value. It brings up many same values. We don't need
to do anything with them.

Step 4:

Now click MEMORY VIEW under the Address window. A MEMORY VIEWER window will open,
click VIEW.

Step 5:

Now click ALL STRINGS in VIEW drop-down window.
A STRING MAP window will open. Type the search term and click GENERATE STRING MAP. It
will start searching the above green loading bar will be shown, once completed click
on SHOW LIST.

Now search any file extension you want or any text, value etc. For example - .png .jpg
.bmp for in-game images that are shown inside the game menus/windows etc , .mp3 ,
.mid , .avi , .mpg , .mov for in-game videos, trailers, ads etc, or just type in-game
item or character names such as - Red car, AK47, minigun or character names. Type
.pdf, .swf .doc .docx .txt or .wtf for text files.
Here I am searching for .mp3 extension. Please note that I am doing this while I am
writing this Instructable hence I was not able to find any game .mp3 files for this
game. I think there are only 2 audio file this game has. Please continue, I have
changed game in the end of this Instructable so keep following.

Step 6:

I have now typed .png instead of .mp3 since there are no .mp3 files in this game. So
.png will fetch all in-game png image files.

In the list double click any link that ends with .png then that link will be shown in
MEMORY VIEWER window. (cant see that window?- check bottom left of monitor, might be
minimized
)

Now carefully select ONLY THE LINK text and press CTRL+C to copy it.
Paste it in the Firefox address bar and your done you have found an image.

Step 7:

Here in my case the link was half, so i looked around the link and found the other half of it and combined both of them to make it proper

Here is my result. Its a new update image you see inside the game. There are litrary
100s of .png links in this game so look for nice ones if you like photoshoping to make
fan art. Best way to find original vector game graphics of online games. You can use
such original High definition game graphics for making wallpapers.

Step 8:

Since I am making this Instructable while testing on "AMC the walking dead social
game" game, I was not able to find any .mp3 files for it. Hence I am gonna challenge
myself and try a totally new game.

I heard Chefville is popular so why not extract Chefville sound files (Example For
Educational Purpose Only
) So I have just added the game and now I am on tutorial of Chefville, I have done some
actions though I don't plan to play this game.

Step 9:

In order to find sound files of online Facebook games or apps restart your
CheatEngine. (restarting and clearing Firefox history and cache gets your fresh
results when you search)

Follow the previous instructions and this time type ".mp3" in String Map Window we
opened before, click Generate string map, let it load, click Show List. Now find a
proper link starting with http:// and ending in .mp3. (or you can combine two links
after checking if they are leading to same folders etc.)

Go to Memory Viewer window and carefully copy the link. If your not careful you will
instead copy the binary code of the selected text. Paste it in the Firefox address bar
and click go.Tada a audio player will open and play the sound. Congrats now you know how to find
online app/game/website resources.

In my case it was a easy search and i found a proper .mp3 link which turn out to be the audio effect for oven
inside the game. Here's the video playing the found mp3 files.

Step 10:

Note- If its a video file, it will pop up a window asking you to save it on computer.
If its a .gif animated file (sprite) it will play it although might not be visible
always hence it might be player too far up in the top left side of the Firefox window.
(its because right now no codes are telling where the .gif file should play in a
window, Also it might be just an image file with .gif extension and might or might not show up if its protected.)

If its a music/audio file, it will start playing inside the browser using built-in Firefox audio player.

If its a document extension you successfully searched then a popup will follow asking
you to save the file. A .pdf file might just open inside Firefox instead of asking to
be saved in computer.

Thank you for reading and please Favorite this Instructable if you like it. Specific
questions related to any other web browser then please ask in comments and I'll
walkthrough you without forcing you to use Firefox.
