Introduction: Five Minute Berry Smoothie

About: I enjoy DIY projects, especially those involving woodworking. I'm an avid computer programmer, computer animator, and electronics enthusiast.

The summer heat often leaves you wishing for a cool treat to bring you much needed relief. In this Instructable, I will show you how to make a simple berry smoothie in five minutes.

Supplies

  • Blender
  • Sandwich Ziplock Bag
  • Frozen Fruit
  • Fruit Juice
  • Milk
  • Honey (optional)

Step 1: Soften the Berries

Start off by filling your blender cup with the desired quantity of frozen berries. I chose a raspberry, blueberry, and blackberry blend of berries. If you are making a single serving, empty your frozen berries into the sandwich-sized Ziplock bag or a microwavable container of your choosing. Microwave the berries for roughly 40s to soften them.

Step 2: Blending the Berries

After softening the berries, add your berries back into your blender cup. Add milk to the blender cup up to the top of your berries. Next, add a quarter cup or less of your selected fruit juice; adding too much can cause the smoothie to separate. I have found this balance of fluids and berries makes for a perfect consistency smoothie.

At this point, if you chose to add honey, add a tablespoon or less honey to the berry/milk/juice mixture.

Finally, blend your concoction until it is a smooth texture.

Step 3: Enjoy!

Enjoy your delicious smoothie! Let me know in the comments what you think!
