Hello! This instructable will teach you how to make your own flat pack dog basket.

Step 1: What Do You Need?

Materials:

2 sheets of self adhesive felt (1 mm thick)
one sheet minimum 1030 by 1030 mm
one sheet minimum 950 by 1815 mm
5 sheets of polyethylene foam (10 mm thick)
all sheets minimum 385 by 530 mm
self adhesive velcro (2 meters)

Tools:

cutter
ruler
set square
pencil
paper tape

Step 2: Triangles

Two sheets of felt glued to each other won't be enough. The basket would collapse immediately. That's why we'll make some triangles out of the polyethylene foam sheets. I used black foam for the sides and blue foam for the base to remember them.

Draw all 7 triangles on to the foam twice. Use a pencil or a marker. Try to compose them efficiently to avoid waste.
Cut them out.
Each triangle is different. Label each triangle by color with some paper tape for later.

Step 3: Sides

Next we have to make both sides of the basket.

Use the template to sketch the drawing on to your smallest sheet of felt.
Cut out the blue outline.
We are not going to fully deduct the paper of the felt. Only cut out the red triangles very carefully. Watch out you don't cut into the felt itself.
Stick the 8 triangles on to the felt.
Fold over the yellow line.
Fold over the green lines. Tear off the paper and stick it.
Stick velcro on the pink lines.
The sides are finished now!

Step 4: Base

Now we will make the base of the basket.

Use the template to sketch the drawing on to your biggest sheet of felt.
Cut out the blue outline.
Fold over the red lines. Tear off the paper and stick it.
We are not going to fully deduct the paper of the felt again. Only cut out the yellow triangles now.
Stick the 6 triangles on to the felt.
Fold over the green line. Tear off paper strips of 2 mm from each side and stick it.
Stick velcro on the pink lines.
The base is finished too!

Step 5: Assembling

Time to assemble the sides to the base. The only thing you have to do is sticking the velcro strips on to each other.

Step 6: How Do U Use Your Finished Basket?

Your basked is ready. Time to use it now!

Multifunctional?

Of course! When you disassemble the sides from the base, your dog can easily use it as a big blanket to lay on. You can even choose between a small or a big version: only detach one velcro in stead of two if you want a bigger blanket.

How about moving it around?

You can easily fold it in half so you can take it with you when you go on vacation or when you make some trips.
