Well it's summer and many of us use ice to cool down our drinks, if the ice melts it and adds water to our drink so why not flavor our ice cubes to help it add flavor to our drink, that is what this Ible is about, hope you enjoy it and try it out for your self, my recipe is just and example for all the flavor you can add to your drinks it's the start of an endless way of possibilities. Enjoy!

Read until the end so you can know about the Bonus Treat!

Step 1: Ingredients and Materials

For this Instructable as mentioned before these ingredients are just a base, you just need some water, some sweetener and some flavorings, the possibilities are endless, I used some color and flavor condiments, you can used anything and if you to tell me to try it out.

  • 1 Orange
  • Handfull of Roselle (Dried Hibiscus Flower, Flor de Jamaica in Spanish)
  • Handfull of Basil leaves
  • 3 Lemongrass stalks
  • 1 1/2 cups of Water
  • 3/4 cups of Sugar

The tools are also really basic and are the way all of the ice cubes can be made

  • Peeler
  • Chopping Board
  • Knife
  • Ice cube Tray
  • Ladle
  • Pot

*Note: The Pot and Ladle are optional and will be explained in the procedure steps coming next.

Step 2: Cut and Brew

It is just that simple haha you can prepare your ingredients in any way you like I simply chopped and started brewing them all, sugar first, and them all of the rest on the stove top, I then left the pot in the fridge for 24 hours but you can choose any way you like the hot or the cold method, I chose both. That's why I mentioned the Pot and Ladle were optional on the previous step.

Step 3: Freeze

Again just as simple as it seems but I noted the high content of sugar may interfere with the freezing so add water and dilute it more until it will freeze normally, if something doesn't work let me know.

Step 4: Enjoy!

There you have it you have just made your own flavored Ice cubes, this is only the beginning try your own recipes and send them to me to try them out as always leave feedback, really appreciate it!

Step 5: Bonus Treat

When transferring your infusion to your Ice Cube Tray don't throw away your orange peel cut it into pieces and eat it as is or freeze it, great treat for kids and it's healthy too. Enjoy!

It tasted great, adding Ginger was an idea that came up when they were finished, for next time!
