Step 1: Introduction :
So let me start by saying that I also once didn't knew about Foldscope. But one day I was just surfing the internet that my eyes suddenly got caught up in the attention of a man holding a piece of paper. Yes, I am talking about Manu Prakash, the inventor of the Foldscope. This is the video that I saw and I was totally surprised by the idea of Foldscope !
Step 2: Getting the Foldscope :
After watching the video, I was totally surprised and inspired. So I thought of buying it.I went to their website and saw that they were on kickstarter . I asked my dad if I could pre-order it but he said a straight NO ! My heart was broken now and I was so sad ! :( But then a few months passed and I suddenly remembered about the Foldscope. So I went to their website and searched for their "Contact us" page. I contacted them asking if they would ever enabel Cash on delivery option on the Foldscope but they refused and in turn said that they will send me a free Foldscope that I wasn't expecting at all. I got pumped up! So I gave them my address and it came after a wait of a few weeks.
Step 3: Assembling :
So now that I had got the Foldscope, it was time to assemble it ! I looked up for their youtube channel and found a video that showed me how to assemble the Foldscope. This was the video that I founded :
Step 4: Preparing Slides !
Now I had assembled the Foldscope and it was time to prepare some slides.Well I just bought some prepared slides from the market as you can see but still I have included a video showing how to prepare the slides.
Step 5: Observing the Cells :
I prepared many slides as you can see and also observed them under the Foldscope. I prepared :
- Leaf Slide.
- Onion peel slide.

As you can see that you can REALLY see the cells through the Foldscope. Yeah ! Crazy Right !? I couldn't believe on what I saw ! It is thus a working paper microscope !
