Introduction: Fried Rum Cookies!

About: Hi! I am Klinong, that is how my loving family calls me, except my brother, he calls me Krinyol, as I have silly curly hair :) I love Instructables for forever now, especially for the contests ha-ha!, but I …

These 'cookies' are crispy and yet the same time tender. Some people call it doughnut strips as you still get that doughnut feeling as you bite them and yet they are crispy. Two words though, very good!

Step 1: Ingredients

350 g AP flour

5 yolks

1 whole egg

1 tbsp sour cream

1 tbsp rum

a pinch of salt

1/2 L vegetable oil for frying

enough icing sugar for sprinkling

Beat yolks, egg, sour cream, rum, salt and sugar until combined well. Add in flour and start kneading. Divide dough into two balls, let rest for half hour.

Step 2: Method

Roll flat each ball of dough and slice as shown on picture (diamond /baklava slices).

Take one slice and make an incision as show on picture (in the center), repeat step for all diamond slices.

Pull one end and fold it inside as shown on picture, and somewhat bending the other end, again as shown on picture (this is just to make the cookies have some shapes, you can just slice strips and twist lightly and fry, or whichever shapes you prefer!).

Heat oil and fry dough until golden. Place fried cookies on paper towel then move them to a serving plate.

Sprinkle cookies with icing sugar.
