Gently run your soldering iron across the LCD strip just below the screen. Don't attempt this for horizontal lines as there is a low success rate and high chance of melting your strip. I recommend that you use a 40 Watt soldering iron. Be sure to clean the solder off.

i fixed horizontal lines. using a TEMP CONTROLLED iron i set it to 380F. i find that 380F is just hot enough to not melt the strip on the horizontal side. tested this theory with a gameboy that had a dead horizontal driver IC. Then moved to my good gameboy. Gameboy screen = FIXED.

Ive also had minor success with a heat gun. Wish I could set the temp!

Great! I have not come across anyone who has successfully made this repair. I will have to try it. Thanks for posting!

Be very careful! sorry i didnt take any pics of the gameboy before, but if it helps, the line was right in the middle of the screen.

Does this work on a gameboy pocket too?

using a heat gun is also effective and can speed up repair time.
