Bare with me guys this is my first Instructable!
The geometric lamp is rather simple and elegant lamp that you can hang almost anywhere and make your space look nice!
Step 1: Supplies!
For this project you will need:
- 24"x36" Foam Core board
- an X-Acto Knife
- Straight Edge to align your cuts
- Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Used Light Cord and Light Bulb
You might also need some tape to help with the glueing!
Here is the template for the geometry
-Go to Office Depot or Staples and you can get this plotted out for $3!! then once you have this template you can use it over and over.
Step 2: Time to Trace!
So now that you have all of your supplies and your print out what you want to do is lay the print out right over the foam core. Tape it down on the edges so that it doesn't move!
What I did was poke tiny dots at each point and mark out where the top circle is as well.
Now that you have your dots placed, take the sheet off and connect the dots so that it looks just like the print out.
Once you are done you will want to grab your X-Acto knife and straight edge and go over these lines.
DON'T CUT ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE FOAM CORE!!!!
In order for the lamp to work you have to cut at most 3/4 of the way through so that the foam can still pivot and bend!
Step 3: Assembly
Now that it is all cut out and ready to go we have to glue it all together.
Use some tape to hold the corners together and create the form.
Once you've got the form then you can hot glue it. Be careful because sometimes the glue can burn through the foam core or fall through any edges that are not fully connected!
Once it is all glued do not forget to cut the hole at the top where the light bulb will sit in and then light it up!
Step 4: Light It Up!
Lastly show off your new designer lamp on your coffee table, over your dinner table, or even as a cool night light!
