This is a cool glow in the dark project that is fun easy inexpensive and will keep you mesmerized all night long

excuse me for the inconvenient pictures this is because this was a fast motion thing and hard to capture in a picture. watch the video before you start judging the quality of this instructable

Step 1: Ingredients

Airborne or alca-seltzer tablets

clear bottle with a cap preferably so you can shake it to start over

2-3 glow sticks or one flash light, the flash light gives it a more lit effect the glow sticks give more of a bright neon luminecsent color

a bottlle of vegetable oil

some water

Step 2: Starting the Project

Take the bottle and fill it about 3/4 to the top with the vegetable oil

then fill the bottle the rest of the way with water

wait for the water to settle at the bottom for maximum effect

crack the glowsticks then take scissors and cut the end of the glow sticks and empty the contents into the bottle if your using a flashlight skip this step.

Now for the exciting part take your airborne or alka-seltzer and put it in the bottle wait till the tablet hits the water at the bottom and then it should start to work

this picture is a little bit difficult to understand but its there to show you what the water should look like when its settled there should be a clear line between the oil and water with as little bubbles as possible.

Step 3: Science!

This is how this awesome project works. The water is denser then the oil so the water sinks to the bottom and settles there. Then the glowstick contents (which are denser then the l sink into the water and make the water glow in the dark. Now the airborne or alka-seltzer tablets make bubbles when they hit water so when you put them in they flow into the water and start floating bubbles from the water up in to the oil making a awesome lava lamp effect.
