GoPro Magnet Mount - VERY Powerful, Paint Safe With Quick Release!

Introduction: GoPro Magnet Mount - VERY Powerful, Paint Safe With Quick Release!

In this tutorial I'll show you how to make a paint friendly (won't scratch), easy to remove, VERY powerful GoPro magnet mount.

If you use the 80lbs magnet listed below you can attach the mount to dense ferrous metals (like steel I beams) and you'll be able to remove it fairly easily. If you're only going to be attaching it to sheet type metals (car bodies, motorcycle tanks, airplane bodies and want it to stick over speeds of 100mph, use the 249lbs magnet. Just don't stick this to an I beam or it'll be a real pain to get off.

What you'll need:

1. Magnet ($6 - 80lbs magnet here:, or for a high speed mount with tons off pull $20 - 249lbs magnet here:, - this is my personal fav and what I'm now using on my car. It'll even hold to the inside roof and pillars of your car! I'm sure it would even hold up to light aircraft - tested to 125mph on my car and it wasn't even shaking)

2. SBR (Styrene Butadiene Rubber) $5:

3. cheap superglue

4. Stick on GoPro mount

5. Scissors

That's it! This will take 5 minutes to make and works like a charm! Awesome GoPro mount.

I was wondering if you had put this on the hood of your car? Assuming what you're saying about sheet metal, etc etc in your video, I would assume it's safe enough to have a couple of these on there! (I'm making a much larger mount that requires a couple magnets.

I have used a few of these on the hood and sides of my car and more than one works great. If you modified the design using a cheese plate (camera mounting plate) you could easily make a rig that would hold a full DSLR. Just remember to always use a tether!

I'm just thinking that someone on a motorcycle would see the GoPro, And try to steal it... Great project anyway

Well, the same would hold true for a car or any other vehicle. Just be sure to take it with you. ;-)

This is fabulous! Thanks for sharing! It would be great to see photos along with your video and written instructions!
