In this instructable I will show you how to make granola. This homemade healthy granola recipe is very easy to make and tastes super yummy. Granola is much cheaper to make at home then it is to buy at the store and it doesn't take very much active time at all. Granola is a perfect snack for hiking, camping, biking, or of course while watching tv or a movie, anytime really. If I can do it, you can do it, let's get started!

Don't forget to follow me and check out my other instructables! :)

If you have any questions or comments leave them down below and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Follow the easy steps below or watch the video tutorial or do both! :)

Step 1: Ingredients/Tools

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds (or other nuts and seeds) (40g)

Step 2: Mix Dry Ingredients

First let's preheat the oven to 350 F (176 C). Now let's add our pecans, almonds, salt, and cinnamon to a large bowl with our old-fashioned rolled oats. Mix until well combined.

Step 3: Coconut Oil and More

Now we take our coconut oil and add it to a medium sized bowl. Heat it up in the microwave or on the stove top beforehand, until completely melted, but not hot. Now add the vanilla extract, honey, and maple syrup. You can use all honey or all maple syrup if you like. :) Stir those all together until combined.

Step 4: Mix Mix Mix

Next we pour the wet ingredients in with our dry ingredients and stir to combine.

Step 5: Baking Time

Now we add the unbaked granola to a sheet pan lined with parchment paper or silicon mat. Spread it out with a spoon or spatula then bake it for about 12 minutes. After 12 minutes take it out of the oven and stir it, then pat it back down. We want to ensure even baking. Back in the oven it goes for another 12 to 14 minutes until it gets lightly golden brown on top. Once baked, let it cool completely, at least 45 minutes to an hour.

Step 6: Break It Up

Next once the granola has cooled it is time to break it up. Place it in a bowl or a ziplock bag. Then add your craisins or other dried fruit. There you go homemade granola! Enjoy! :)

Step 7: Video Tutorial

Now watch those steps in action by checking out the video tutorial. :)

That looks like coconut cream, not coconut oil; what am I missing? Thanks!

Hi James it is coconut oil. When you buy coconut oil at the store it will actually be a solid kind of like shortening. But then at warmer temps it melts into the oil. :)

    Question 24 days ago

I am a type two diabetic and love granola but eat the low sugar variety and 'cut' it with more rolled oats to make sure the sugar content is low. Can you tell me what is the sugar content of your granola please. I realise this may not be possible but any help will be appreciated.
