Grilled Bacon Wrapped Tater Tots

Introduction: Grilled Bacon Wrapped Tater Tots

Grilled bacon wrapped tater tots are one of the most exciting tailgating recipes I have seen in a long time. These are so tasty and easy that your football friends will describe them as tailgating candy! Try this recipe today and you will agree.

While this recipe calls for grilling the tater tots, they can also be cooked in the oven. Just gently place them on a baking sheet in the oven at about 400° F. for 15 minutes or until the bacon is fully cooked.

Ingredients:

1 package bacon

1 package tater tots

1 package wooden toothpicks

Step 1: Thaw Tater Tots

Remove tater tots from the freezer and bag and let thaw out slightly. Alternatively, you can toss them in the microwave for about 10 seconds. Beware, the tater tots become squishy when thawed.

Step 2: Wrap Tater Tots With Bacon

Once the tater tots are thawed, begin wrapping each tot with the one-half piece of bacon. Secure the bacon with tooth picks. Be careful not to squish the tater tots when securing.

Step 3: Heat Grill

Heat the grill to 400° degrees F.

Step 4: Grill the Tater Tots

Place the tater tots on the upper grill rack to cook slowly. The grease from the bacon will melt and flame up so be prepared to disperse the flame as you see fit.

Step 5: Watch Carefully

Turn every so often to cook the bacon thoroughly. Once the bacon is cooked the tater tots should be ready. This should take about 15 minutes.

Step 6: Serve

Remove from the grill and let stand about a minute to cool. Serve immediately.

It really was, and so easy to make. It's great for indoors too. Just heat up the oven to 400 degrees F. and bake for about 15 minutes.
