If you want to make one of the best cookies ever, then you have come to the right instructable! These cookies are truly a classic in the art of cookie making. My mom and I always make these near Christmas. I hope you enjoy.

Step 1: Ingredients

Here is what you will need.

~ 2 2/3 cups flour
~ 2 teaspoons baking soda
~ 2/3 cup creamy peanut butter
~ 1 cup butter
~ 1 teaspoon salt
~ 1 cup sugar
~ 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
~ 2 eggs
~ 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
~ Additional sugar
~ 5 dozen Hershey kisses, unwrapped

Step 2: DIRECTIONS

First preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Then in a large bowl, mix flour, salt, and baking soda. Add butter and peanut butter and mix until smooth. Add sugars and beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla and mix until smooth.

Step 3: Making the Balls

Make balls out of level tablespoons of dough - add flour if needed. Then roll in sugar.

Step 4: Baking

Bake 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet for 8 minutes.
Remove from oven and add 1 kiss to the center of each cookie. Return to the oven and bake for 2 more minutes. Remove and cool.

I didn't make them peanut butter flavor, and instead just used a simple sugar cookie recipe from the store bought kind. The instruction for cook times are exactly the same. I use the same amount of dough, 1 tbsp, roll it in sugar and back at 375 for 8 mins, the cookies are flat and burnt, and it doesn't look right when you add the kiss. It is supposed to look like a round less flat cookie, and the kiss is nestled inside the dough. What I get, are flat burnt cookies with a kiss on top. Could it possibly be the sheet I am using? It is a round, light metal cookie sheet, I guess it is a cookie sheet. Should I change the temperature? I need some advice!

I've been making these for years. Try adding a Dove Chocolate piece instead of the Hershey Kiss. So yummy.
