I like to prepare simple, everyday meals, and I want to show you that living vegan can be easy and cheap - you can veganize everything you like! Just replace animal products with cruelty-free alternatives. You also don't have to be a professional in the kitchen, just experiment and have fun! And don't hurt any animals in the making.
Step 1: Homemade Dough and Apple Strudel - Video Recipe
How to make a vegan apple strudel from scratch (including the dough)!
Ingredients for the dough: Cooking yeast, warm water and salt.
Melt the cooking yeast in about 1 dcl of warm water, add salt, put a clean dishcloth over it and leave it to rest for about 10 minutes.
After that, add the rest of the ingredients; flour, warm water, oil, salt, sugar.
Mix everything until you get a firm mixture (as shown in the video).
You can cover the mixture with some more flour. Put a clean dishloth over the pot and leave it in a warm place for about 40 minutes.
After that, your dough is ready!
Ingredients for the strudel: Apples, sugar, cinnamon, nuts.
Peel and grate some apples, drain them but leave the apple juice for afterwards.
Add sugar, cinnamon and nuts into the mix.
Spread on some vegan butter over the tray before you put the strudel in it.
Add the vegan butter on top of your strudel aswell, so it gets a nice crust.
Put it in a preheated oven (on max temperature for the first 15 min) and then leave it for about 30 minutes on 180 Celsius.
After that, take the apple juice and spread it on top of your strudel and add some more sugar (or cinnamon).
Put it in the oven for about 10 more minutes (on 150 Celsius), and you're done!
